Kansas City Chiefs Analysis…

The Chiefs, who were the last unbeaten team in the NFL, are coming off their first loss of the season, which came at the hands of the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday. Kansas City’s offense, which was the highest scoring in the league was held to 13 points by the smothering defense of the Steelers.

Now, the Chiefs have to get over the loss and focus on their division rivals, who are desperate for a win.

Alex Smith, who has completed 72 percent of his passes this season, still hasn’t thrown an interception, and will be trying to keep the streak alive against the Raiders. The Chiefs will also like to get rookie running back Kareem Hunt back on track after getting only nine carries against the Steelers on Sunday.

The Chiefs defense will need to do a better job against the pass and the run after allowing Antonio Brown to finish with over 150 receiving yards and LeVeon Bell to go over 170 yards on the ground.

If the Chiefs defense can keep both Amari Cooper and Marshawn Lynch in check, they should be able to come away with a win on Thursday.

Oakland Raiders Analysis….

The Raiders have been disappointing this season after coming in with one of the best odds to win the Super Bowl. The team hasn’t been able to get going on offense over the past four weeks, and have scored less than 18 points in the past four games.

The addition of Marshawn Lynch in the offseason was supposed to improve their offense, but so far, he hasn’t had the type of impact that they were hoping for.

Derek Carr, who was forced to miss a game because of an injury, also hasn’t been throwing the ball very well, and Amari Cooper is on pace to finish with less than 1,000 yards for the first time in his three year career.

Defensively, the Raiders haven’t been too bad, and are holding opponents to 21 points per game, which is 12th in the league. The Raiders improved their defense this week when they announced the signing of four-time All-Pro linebacker, Navorro Bowman, who was released by the San Francisco 49ers at his request.

With Bowman in the lineup, the Raiders have more depth at the linebacker position, and a veteran that can mentor their young defensive players.

Final word…

The Chiefs have been playing well this season, but the Raiders desperately need a win, so I’m picking Oakland to cover the spread and get the win.
