My Pick

After a disappointing season that led to the team firing head coach Chip Kelly, the Eagles were supposedly in rebuilding mode coming into the season. The team drafted rookie Carson Wentz in the first round, but weren’t expecting him to be as good as he has been so far.

Wentz led the Eagles to a 3-0 start to the season, which included an impressive blowout win against the Pittsburgh Steelers. After their hot start, the Eagles lost their next two games before bouncing back with an even more impressive win against the previously undefeated Minnesota Vikings.

Elliott has been an absolute beast out of the backfield for the Cowboys to this point in the season.

Elliott has been an absolute beast out of the backfield for the Cowboys to this point in the season.

The Dallas Cowboys also had a lot of questions heading into the season after quarterback Tony Romo suffered a back injury in the preseason. With Romo out for an extended period of time, the Cowboys turned the reins over to rookie quarterback Dak Prescott.

Like Wentz, the Cowboys weren’t expecting Prescott to play right away, but the young signal caller has shown that he is ready to be the franchise’s quarterback of the future, putting Romo’s future on the team in doubt.

Prescott has received a lot of help on offense from fellow rookie Ezekiel Elliot, who leads the NFL in rushing so far. Elliot, who was taken with the fourth pick in the draft, was expected to be good immediately because he was the most talented runner in the draft, but not too many people expected him to perform the way he has through six games.

Before their bye week, Elliot became the first runner to have three consecutive games rushing over 130 yards, which is very impressive considering the talented running backs that have played in the NFL.

With the Duo of Prescott and Elliot, the Cowboys are 5-1 and sit on top of the NFC East. The team will try to increase its division lead on Sunday by defeating their hated rivals.

While Wentz doesn’t have a runner as talented as Elliot in the backfield, Ryan Matthews has been a solid runner for the team, despite splitting time in the backfield.

The Eagles will be hoping Wentz doesn’t let the pressure of playing in Dallas get to him, and help the team snap its two-game road losing streak.

The Cowboys will try doing what has made them successful, which is to give Elliot the ball early and open up play-action opportunities for Prescott.

Final Word…

This has the makings of a very close game, but the Cowboys have the edge because they are more balanced and will be at home, which is why I’m picking Dallas to win the game and cover the spread.
