My Pick

At 7-1, the Patriots have the best record in the NFL, and are the favorites to win the Super Bowl. Tom Brady, who sat out the first four games of the season due to a suspension, is also one of the front runners to win the MVP award.

Coming off the bye week, Brady and company will need to be sharp to keep putting up points against this Seattle defense.

At 5-2-1, the Seahawks are in the thick of the NFC playoffs race, and they still have a great chance to finish with the best record in the conference if the Cowboys stumble down the stretch.

The Seahawks had a slow start to the season due to injuries to quarterback Russell Wilson, and the absence of Marshawn Lynch, who retired after last season. Even with the injuries, Wilson hasn’t missed a game, and has been instrumental to his team’s success.

The Seahawks also got some good news going into the game after the team announced that Kam Chancellor and Thomas Rawls fully participated in practice this week, signifying both players are healthy and ready to go on Sunday.

Tight end Jimmy Graham, whom the team traded for after losing to the Patriots in the Super Bowl, struggled last season before suffering a season ending injury. This year, Graham has been playing very well, and should help the struggling Seahawks offense in this game.

Since Brady’s return, the Patriots have been one of the best offensive teams in the NFL, and are averaging 34 points per game. Defensively, the Patriots were expected to struggle after trading Chandler Jones to the Arizona Cardinals during the offseason.

Despite not having their best pass rusher from last season, the Patriots defense hasn’t skipped a beat and is currently the second best scoring defense in the league with an average of 16.5 points allowed per game.

With only two games against teams with a record of .500 or better left on the schedule, there is a great possibility that the Patriots can finish the season 15-1, but they need to get past the Seahawks first and avoid another late season collapse like they had last year.

Seattle’s offensive line has been one of their biggest weaknesses this season, but they will have to be at their best against the Patriots because head coach Bill Belichick will try to exploit the weakness by sending different looking blitzes at the Seahawks.

Final word…

The Seahawks will want to get some payback for their painful Super Bowl loss, but the Patriots are the better team, and also playing at home, so I’m picking them to win and cover the spread.
