Bet On The 2017 Cigar Mile – Morning Line Odds and How To Bet

The Cigar Mile is the final Grade 1 race of the NYRA circuit.  This years edition of the race has had the purse bumped up to $750,000, which has drawn out some of the top horses in world including three horses from the Breeders Cup’ and two Grade 1 winners from the past season.

The race is set to take place this Saturday at Aqueduct Race in New York City.  The Cigar Mile is the final race of the day with a post time of 4:16pm EST.

In this article I will provide the morning line odds for the 2017 Cigar Mile and also give you my top pick for the race.  Further down the page I will outline a simple 3 step guide to getting your bets placed on the Cigar Mile this Saturday from the United States.

2017 Cigar Mile Odds

Here are the morning line odds for this years Cigar Mile.  These odds will change throughout race day depending on the amount of money coming in on each horse.

  • Sharp Azteca 2/1
  • Practical Joke 7/2
  • Mind Your Biscuits 5/1
  • Seymourdini 6/1
  • Tom’s Ready 8/1
  • Americanize 12/1
  • Beasley 12/1
  • Summer Revolution 15/1
  • Vulcan’s Forge 20/1
  • Just Call Kenny 30/1

Sharp Azteca comes into the race as the clear favorite after a succesful season that saw him win 3 of the 6 races he participated in, and coming off a second place finish in the Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile.

Practical Joke is the second favorite after a solid season that saw him finish 4th in the Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile and also a big win in the H. Allen Jerkens Memorial Grade 1 race in August.

My Pick

I’m personally looking one past the two favorites and taking Mind Your Biscuits at 5/1.  This is a very fast horse that has won 2 G1 races this past season, including beating Sharp Azteca in the Malibu Stakes last December.  The big question mark with him is the fact that he has always competed in 6 or 7 furlong races in his career.  With the mile distance being 8 furlongs in length, it will be interesting to see if he can maintain his speed for 1 furlong more than he’s used to.  The ability is there and I think it’s worth the risk to make a bet on him in the Cigar Mile.
