The Houston Astros are one of the few baseball franchises without a World Series championship, despite having some all-time great talents like Nolan Ryan, Roger Clemens, Randy Johnson, Jeff Bagwell, and many others. In 2005, they became the first Texas franchise to make it to the World Series but eventually lost to the Chicago White Sox.
After losing the World Series, the franchise was stuck in obscurity for almost a decade, before eventually turning things around in 2015. After winning the AL West in 2015, the team went in to the 2016 season with high aspirations, however, inconsistencies cost them a shot of making the playoffs in consecutive seasons, even though they finished with a winning record.
This year, the Astros are hoping to bounce back from last season’s disappointment and make a deep playoff run. However, they will have to deal with some tough competition in their division.
