The biggest race in the USA is only a few days away and I can feel the hype starting to build up for the horse racing season. The Kentucky Derby is the second most bet on sporting event in North America, second to only the Super Bowl.
This years Derby will take place this Saturday, May 2nd at Churchill Downs Racetrack in Louisville, Kentucky.
A field of 20 horses is expected to run on Saturday, and with most of the these horses having only competed a few times, it will take some insightful handicapping to pick a winner.

My Pick
I’m on Further Ado to win this race. I think he’s the fastest horse in the field and if he has a good race he should finish first.
Further Ado is coming off a very impressive performance at the Blue Grass Stakes where he ran a very fast race to finish with a faster time than either Renegade (Arkansas Derby) or Commandment (Florida Derby) in their respective final races before the Derby. He didn’t have his best race at the Tampa Bay Derby in early March, but he showed great speed a few months earlier in a shorter race, which shows he has the top end speed combined with the ability to maintain it over the length of the Derby. I’m looking for the horse that is the fastest on their best day, and I believe that’s Further Ado this year.
