The 2026 Belmont Stakes will take place this evening (Saturday, June 6th) at Saratoga Race Course in New York. Belmont Park is undergoing renovations, which is why the Belmont Stakes has moved to Saratoga for the third straight year. This is the third and final year the race will be held at Saratoga – Belmont Park is scheduled to reopen in the fall of 2026, with the Belmont Stakes returning to its traditional home in 2027. The race will once again be run at a distance of 1.25 miles instead of the traditional 1.5 miles typical of a Belmont Stakes because of this venue change.
There will be no Triple Crown winner at this year’s Belmont Stakes. Golden Tempo, the Kentucky Derby winner, did not compete in the Preakness Stakes. The Preakness was won by Napoleon Solo. Golden Tempo returns to the Triple Crown trail in the Belmont Stakes this Saturday, where he’ll be challenged by Kentucky Derby runner-up Renegade, the morning line favorite. The Belmont Stakes will be broadcast nationally on FOX (with additional coverage on FS1) and has a post time of 7:04pm ET. I still expect significant betting action on this year’s Belmont Stakes even though a Triple Crown is not on the line.

Where To Bet
Online horse racing apps such as TwinSpires accept residents of Kansas and Nebraska. Missouri does not have a clear law on online horse race betting, and some racing apps do not accept Missouri residents, so check an app’s eligible states before you sign up. Nebraska residents can also bet in person at the state’s racetracks. Most racing apps require you to be at least 18, or 21 in some states, and they verify your identity and location when you sign up.

Belmont Stakes Betting in Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska
Kansas has legal sports betting, with the regulated betting market having launched in September of 2022. Missouri voters approved sports betting in November of 2024, and the regulated online and retail market officially launched on December 1, 2025. Nebraska has legalized in-person sports betting at its racetrack casinos, but online and mobile sports betting is not yet available in the state, and Nebraska voters will decide on it in November 2026.
Horse racing bets usually go through racing apps and tracks rather than regular sportsbook apps. Nebraska has live racing at tracks such as Fonner Park in Grand Island, which also take simulcast bets on the Belmont Stakes.
