Daniel Cormier will be defending his heavyweight belt against Derrick Lewis in the main event of UFC 230 at Madison Square Garden on November 3rd. This fight came from completely out of left field after Derrick Lewis made the most of his opportunity on the mic after his come from behind KO win over Alexander Volkov just a couple weeks ago at UFC 229. Lewis took his shorts off, said that his balls were hot, and conceded that his cardio was nowhere near where it has to be for a title shot. The funny thing is that people are saying Derrick Lewis doesn’t deserve the title shot and yet he’s put together a 9-1 record over his last 10 UFC fights, which is actually pretty remarkable at heavyweight. He’s beaten some solid fighters too with Volkov, Tybura, Browne, Abdurakhimov, all on the losing end in that span. That doesn’t even include his win over N’Gannou. Yes, it wasn’t a pretty win, but it was a win nonetheless over a fighter thought to be an absolute killer.
