Colombia is a very strong team that is expected to win Group C and advance to the round of 16 in Brazil. They finished second to Argentina in World Cup qualifying in South America and have continued to look good in their tune up matches with a road win over a very strong Belgium team and a draw in Holland. Colombia tied Senegal and beat Jordan in their most recent tune up matches, but I do expect them to succeed in Brazil, with the culture and climate being very similar to that in Colombia.
Greece has a very hard time scoring goals. They did beat Bolivia 2-1 on June 6th in their most recent tune up match for the World Cup, but before that they didn’t score a goal in 3 previous outings against Korea, Portugal and Nigeria. They are very strong defensively and I expect them to be happy with a 0-0 draw in this game, and there is a decent chance of this happening.
That said I think Colombia will find a way to break through the Greece defense and put the ball in the back of the net. If this happens I don’t fully expect Greece to open the game up too much because a loss against Colombia, will not be catastrophic to their tournament hopes because they do have the ability to beat both Ivory Coast and Japan in the later games.
Greece will be happy with a draw in this game, while Colombia will be looking to get the win. Greece is looked at as the worst team in this group, but is comparable to both Japan and Ivory Coast, so Colombia will want all three points in this game.
