Bet On The 2018 US Open – Odds and Winner Picks

The 2018 US Open is heading to Shinnecock Hills Golf Course in Long Island.  Like all US Open’s, the course looks like it is setting up to be a very challenging test of golf, so we will have to see which elite player rises to the top this week to claim the US Open major glory.  The best players in the world are all playing elite golf this year and the addition of Tiger Woods into the field will add a ton of eyeballs to this edition of the US Open.  Like all US Opens, this will be an interesting four days of golf and I’m excited to see who comes out on top.

I have 3 plays for outright winner this week.  As I mentioned above, I’m expecting the cream to rise to the top this week, so I won’t be looking at any big long shots to pull out the win this week.

I’m using the best odds from either Bovada.lv or BetOnline.ag for my picks.  Let’s get after it.

Dustin Johnson +900 @ Bovada.lv

DJ absolutely torched the field at last weeks St. Jude Classic, shooting 67 or better in all four rounds to finish the tournament at -19 and reclaim his spot as world #1.  When DJ is in this top form, he should be the favourite in any tournament he enters.  This is especially true for the US Open, where he’s had quite a bit of success in the past.  DJ won the tournament in 2016 and finished T2 in 2015 and T4 in 2014.  Last year Johnson was cut, but we will give him a pass for that tournament because he was coming off an injury and the poor conditions made it so a lot of top end players performed poorly.

At 9/1 there may not be a ton of value on DJ, but I do think he is the most likely player in the field to win the tournament.  And if we consider the fact he entered last years tournament at +750, coming off an injury, then this years +900 starts to look more appetizing.

Jon Rahm +2000 @ Bovada.lv

Rahm is my favourite value play in the tournament at 20/1.  This is a guy who has all the talent in the world and at just 23 years old you get the feeling his first major is just around the corner.  Rahm is coming off a 5th place finish at the Forth Worth Invitational at the end of May, and he’s quietly already won two tournaments in 2018.  He was in the hunt at the Masters this year, finishing in 4th, and I really think he has a great shot at winning a major this season.

Rahm was cut from last years US Open, but like I said I don’t put much stock into last years performances whatsoever.  Rahm has a similar game to DJ, which I think will set up well at Shinnecock Hills.

Bubba Watson +4000 @ BetOnline.ag

Bubba is a player who is quietly having a very solid year after his game seemed to drop off in 2017.  He won at the Genesis Open this year and finished 5th at the Masters, which showed me his game is still ready for the big stage.

Bubba is the kind of player who is boom or bust in majors.  He has the game to win against the elite players in the world when everything comes together.  At 40/1 I think he’s worth a punt play this week to continue his solid play this year, knock down some eagles, and post a low score.
