The Baltimore Ravens won the AFC North Division with a 10-6 record, so they will play host to the Indianapolis Colts who earned a wild card berth with an 11-5 record on the season. This is an interesting playoff game to me because the Ravens are big favorites even though the Colts have been much better of late and have a superior record overall this season. The reason for this is mainly Baltimore earning the home field advantage due to their division championship. Let’s look at the odds:
Colts vs Ravens Betting Odds
Indianapolis Colts +6.5 (+100)
Baltimore Ravens -6.5 (-110)
Indianapolis Colts +250
Baltimore Ravens -275
Over/Under 47 (-105)
As you can see the Ravens are big favorites in this one.
Thoughts/Free Pick
The Ravens finished the season with a 6-2 record at home, while the Colts went 4-4 on the road. Therefore home field advantage does look like it could play a big role in this match up.
That being said the Ravens really stumbled into the post season having won only 1 of their last 5 games. This includes their two home losses (Steelers and Broncos). The Colts on the other hand started the season off 2-3 and have been on fire since then winning 9 of their most recent 11 games. This includes winning 5 of their last 6 and avenging a loss to the Houston Texans in week 17.
I think the oddsmakers are making too big a deal of where the game is being played and not taking into account each teams form going into this game.
I like the Colts at +250 to pull off an upset in this one.
