La Liga is back. The top Spanish soccer league returns to action this weekend and that means top clubs such as Real Madrid and Barcelona, and international superstars Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Junior, Jude Bellingham, Lamine Yamal, Pedri, and more are all back on the television. The 2026-27 La Liga season will run from August 14th, 2026 to May 30th, 2027 with each team playing 38 matches in the league.
On this page we explain the options Americans have for betting on La Liga, break down the three most popular La Liga betting options, and finish with a step by step guide to getting started.
Where Can Americans Bet On La Liga?
Your options depend on where you live. Here are the main ways to bet on La Liga matches in the United States.
Licensed Sportsbooks
Sports betting is legal in more than 35 states plus Washington, D.C., where licensed sportsbooks such as DraftKings, FanDuel and BetMGM offer odds on La Liga matches. You must be 21 or older in most states and physically located in a state where the sportsbook is licensed.
Prediction Markets
Prediction markets such as Kalshi and Polymarket let you buy and sell contracts on the outcome of La Liga matches. Instead of betting against a sportsbook, you trade with other users, and the price of a contract reflects the market’s view of how likely an outcome is. These platforms operate under federal oversight from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) rather than state gambling law, which is why they are available in most states, including states without legal sports betting.
Daily Fantasy Sports
Daily fantasy sports (DFS) apps such as PrizePicks and Underdog offer player stat contests in most states. Rather than betting on who wins, you pick whether players will go over or under a statistical projection.
Offshore Sportsbooks
Offshore sportsbooks are licensed outside the United States and accept bets from across the country. They are not licensed or regulated by any US state, which means Americans who use them have no state regulator to turn to if there is a dispute over a bet or a withdrawal.
La Liga Betting Options
There are three bets that are featured for every La Liga match. These include the spread, win and total odds. We take a closer look at each of these betting options below using Barcelona’s opening match from last season.
Spread
A spread bet is meant to even the playing field between two teams. The favorite would have to win the game by more than spread, while underdog would have to win, draw or lose by fewer goals than the spread amount.

The spread above has Barcelona as a -1 goal favorite. This means if you bet Barcelona to cover the spread Barcelona would have to win by 2 or more goals for you to win the wager. If Barcelona wins by exactly one goal spread bets on Barcelona would push (be returned), and if the game ends in a draw or Mallorca wins the spread bets on Barcelona would lose.
To Win
The win bet is simply wagering on the outcome of the match. It is also known as the money line or 1×2. You can bet on Team A to win, Team B to win or a draw. The odds indicate the return on your bet based on the likelihood of each outcome.

In this example Barcelona is a -208 favorite, which means you would have to wager $208 to win $100 (payout of $308) betting on Barcelona. A $100 bet on Mallorca to pull off the upset would win $500, and $100 on a draw would win $365.
Total
The total is a bet on the number of goals to be scored in the match by both teams. The oddsmaker sets a total and you can bet the over or the under relative to that number.

In this example the over/under is set at 2.75 goals (half the bet applies to a total of 2.5 and half to a total of 3). Over bets would payout if 4 or more goals are scored by both teams, under bets would payout if 2 or fewer goals are scored. If 3 goals are scored over bets would win half and under bets would lose half, while the other half of both bets would push.
Bet On La Liga From The US – Step By Step
Whichever option you choose, the process of getting started is similar. Here’s a general guide.
Step 1. Choose Your Option
Decide which type of platform fits how you want to bet. Licensed sportsbooks offer the full range of bets where they are available, prediction markets let you trade contracts on the outcome, and DFS apps are built around player stats. Review the options above before signing up.
Step 2. Check The Age and Location Rules
Every platform has its own eligibility requirements. Most prediction markets and DFS apps require you to be at least 18, while licensed sportsbooks require you to be 21 in most states and physically located in the state where they are licensed.
Step 3. Create and Verify Your Account
Sign up with your legal name, date of birth and address. Regulated platforms are required to verify your identity, so you may be asked for the last four digits of your Social Security number or a photo of your ID.
Step 4. Fund Your Account
Deposit using one of the platform’s payment methods, which commonly include debit cards and bank transfers. Check how withdrawals work, and how long they take, before you deposit.
Step 5. Find The Market and Place Your Bet
Navigate to the soccer section, select the market you’re interested in, and choose your position. Before confirming, check the price or odds and how much you stand to win, using the bet types explained above as a guide.
Step 6. Set Limits
Decide on a budget before the season starts and stick to it. Most regulated platforms let you set deposit and time limits in your account settings. If betting stops being fun, help is available 24/7 by calling 1-800-GAMBLER.
