The Haskell Invitational Stakes is the biggest race that comes to Monmouth Park Racetrack in New Jersey each year. There is a nice $1,000,000 purse and the Grade 1 invitational is one of the best races for 3-year olds between the Triple Crown races and the Breeders Cup in October.
If you watched the Triple Crown races then you will be familiar with the top contenders in the field this year. Good Magic, who finished 2nd at the Kentucky Derby and 4th at the Preakness, is a significant favorite at odds of 6/5, while Bravazo, a horse who finished in 2nd at the Preakness and 6th at the Belmont, is the second favorite at odds of 3/1. Core Beliefs, a horse who did not compete in any of the Triple Crown races, is another horse to look out for at odds of 4/1.
In this article I will look at the morning line odds for the 2018 Haskell Invitational and also provide a 3 step guide to getting your bets in on this race come Saturday.

2018 Haskell Invitational Stakes Odds
Here are the morning line odds for this years edition of the Haskell Invitational. It’s important to remember that your bet will not be fixed at these odds. The odds will change throughout the day depending on the amount of money that comes in on each horse.
- Good Magic 6/5
- Bravazo 3/1
- Core Beliefs 4/1
- Lone Sailor 5/1
- Roaming Union 10/1
- Navy Commander 12/1
- Golden Brown 15/1
As you can see Good Magic is a big favourite to win the race, but Bravazo, Core Beliefs and Lone Sailor are all being given a realistic shot at the upset. Golden Brown at 15/1 is the big underdog as he was a late addition to the field and this is a big step up from the G3 races he’s been winning.
I like Bravazo to win this race at odds of 3/1. The Haskell Invitational is a 1 1/8 mile race on a dirt track, which is very similar to the 1 3/16 mile length of the Preakness. Bravazo had a great race at the Preakness, finishing second to Justify. Good Magic finished fourth in that race. I think the Preakness is the best race to compare these two favorites.
Bravazo performed admirably in all 3 Triple Crown races this year and I think he’s on the verge of a big win. This is his best opportunity with Good Magic being the only other truly elite horse in the field.
Play: Bravazo 3/1
