Bet On 2015 NFL Player Prop Bets – Odds and Picks

NFL LogoThe NFL season is just over a month from getting underway and we’re actually only two weekends away from the start of the NFL preseason.  We’re right in that sweet spot where we can start making our predictions for what is going to happen this NFL season.  A couple weeks ago I got up my Super Bowl prediction post and now it’s time to move on to individual prop bets including awards, stats and more.

I’m using the odds found at BetOnline.ag, our top rated NFL sportsbook (full review), for this post.  To find these bets at BetOnline.ag, simply visit the site and then click on ‘NFL Players Futures’ under the ‘Futures & Props’ section of the sportsbook.

Let’s get right into it:

2015 Offensive Rookie of the Year

  • Jamies Winston +450
  • Melvin Gordon +550
  • Amari Cooper +650
  • Todd Gurley +800
  • Marcus Mariota +800
  • Ameer Abdullah +1000

One thing to keep in mind when picking the offensive rookie of the year is opportunity.  Don’t just pick the best player on the board and expect them to win the rookie of the year based on their talent.  They also have to be put in a position to succeed on their team.

Jamies Winston will get all the opportunity necessary in Tampa Bay, but I find it hard to take QB’s in this situation because you’re never really sure how they will transition to the NFL.  My favourite pick here is Amari Cooper of the Raiders.  Derek Carr throwing the ball to Amari Cooper, with Michael Crabtree also a viable option to open up space for both WR’s looks to be an ideal situation.

First Coach To Be Fired

  • Jay Gruden (Washington) +400
  • Ken Whisenhunt (Tennessee) +600
  • Gus Bradley (Jacksonville) +700
  • Mike Pettine (Cleveland) +800
  • Joe Philbin (Miami) +900

If RG3 stumbles out of the gate I think Gruden could be on his way out of Washington very quickly.  I personally don’t see RG3 ever being as good as he was back in his rookie season.  The odds aren’t great, but I do think Gruden has a great chance of being fired early.

Most Rushing Yards

  • Adrian Peterson +500
  • DeMarco Murray +600
  • Arian Foster +700
  • Jamaal Charles +700
  • Marshawn Lynch +800

DeMarco Murray absolutely demolished everyone in this category last year, amassing 1,845 yards while Bell was second with 1,361.  That said, he’s now in a different situation in Philly, so it will be interesting to see if he can duplicate those numbers.  I think he will be able to seeing as McCoy was still third in rushing yards last season for the Eagles.  I think Murray is a step up and I expect him to continue to get a ton of looks with the ball.  AP is the wild card here, but I think he might be past his prime now after missing all of last season.

Most Receiving Yards

  • Antonio Brown +400
  • Julio Jones +500
  • Odell Beckham Jr. +550
  • Calvin Johnson +800
  • Demaryius Thomas +800
  • Jordy Nelson +900
  • Dez Bryant +1000

Antonio Brown finished with 1,698 yards last year and in a similar situation I expect him to have another successful year.  That said, if Calvin Johnson can stay healthy I think he is great value at +800.  He only played in 13 games last year and wasn’t 100%, but still took down over 1000 yards.  He had 82.8 yards per game, versus Brown who had 106.1, but he wasn’t 100% and I think this plays a huge factor.  With Stafford still slinging the ball for him I like Johnson here.

Most Passing Yards

  • Andrew Luck +275
  • Ben Roethlisberger +500
  • Aaron Rodgers +650
  • Drew Brees +750
  • Matt Ryan +800
  • Peyton Manning +1000
  • Matt Stafford +1000

Drew Brees and Ben Roethlisberger tied in this category last year with Andrew Luck slipping into third.  The addition of Andre Johnson to the Colts should give Luck another solid target though and I think he improves even more this season.  Frank Gore is old so he won’t be getting a ton of touches, which means the Colts will surely be throwing the ball an awful lot this season.  I like Luck here even though he’s the favourite.
