My Pick

Kansas City Chiefs Analysis…

The Chiefs are still on top of the AFC West, thanks to the Denver Broncos and Oakland Raiders not being able to take advantage of their two-game losing streak. Kansas City has a chance to extend their division lead some more with a win against the Cowboys.

Alex Smith will try to continue the pace he was on in the first half of the season, when he led the league in passing yards. Smith, who is one of the front runners for the MVP award, has done a great job taking care of the ball this season, and still hasn’t thrown an interception.

The Chiefs defense needs to improve if this team is to be taken seriously as a contender. S coring on opponents hasn’t been a problem for Kansas City this year, but they haven’t been able to stop opposing teams from scoring at will, especially in their last game.

After having a week off to fix their issues, I expect the Chiefs to have one of their most complete games of the season, especially if the Cowboys don’t have Elliott in the lineup.

Dallas Cowboys Analysis…

The Cowboys have won three of their last five games, and are on a two-game winning streak. One of the biggest keys to their recent success is running back Ezekiel Elliott, who has finally returned to the form we saw last season, when he led the league in rushing.

However, the Cowboys don’t know if they will have Elliott in uniform on Sunday, as they await a Judge’s ruling that could either allow him to play the rest of the season, or serve a six game suspension imposed by the league due to domestic violence allegations.

Without Elliott, the Cowboys will turn to Alfred Morris and Darren McFadden to carry the load. Morris has been getting the most carries of the two backs, and is expected to be the feature back in Elliott’s absence, with McFadden coming in behind him.

Defensively, the Cowboys have also been playing much better than they did at the start of the season, and they have allowed less than 20 points in each of their last two games. If the defense can continue playing well, the Cowboys should be able to weather Elliott’s absence if they are forced to.

Final word…

The Cowboys not having Elliott played a big role in this decision, so keep that in mind when making this play.  That said, I’m taking the Chiefs to win this game at -116 odds.
