Wow, that was a long list.  I’m not sure why I went through every player, but it is always interesting to see the point totals that the oddsmakers are expecting from the players.

I felt that many of the predictions were somewhat low, but when you add in potential injuries that could really derail a players entire season then it becomes much more reasonable to have slightly lower than actual predictions on point totals.

Here are some of my favourite picks:

Giordano under 50.5 points – He had 47 points in 64 games last season, which put him at a .73 points per game pace, which equals out to 60 points over a full 82 game season.  Not only do I not think he will keep this pace (I think he will go down to about 0.5 points per game), but if he gets injured like he did last season that would be enough to keep him under this total.

Staal over 64.5 points – Staal had a bad year in 13-14, only scoring 61 points in 79 games.  This total is basically expecting Staal to have another down year.  I expect him to bounce back though with a solid year that is necessary in Carolina.  He is almost a point a game player if you take out last year and he rarely gets injured.

P. Kane under 82.5 points – Kane is always right around a point per game player, so this is a good total if you know for sure he is going to play the entire season.  That said, an injury, even if it’s just for a couple weeks should guarantee that he finishes below this total.

Jason Spezza over 64.5 points – If Spezza stays healthy he will surely score more than 65 points this season.  Spezza is a point per game player and now that he will be joining a powerplay with Seguin and Benn I expect him to get back to scoring over 80 points in a season.  He does struggle with back problems, but even if he plays 70 games he should be over this total.

Nugent-Hopkins over 61.5 points – The Nuge is starting on the top line with Taylor Hall who has a total of 81.5 points this season.  If Nugent-Hopkins can stay healthy he has to take a step forward this year in terms of production.  I’m expecting around 75 points for the Nuge this season.

Once again, you can bet on all of these player totals at Bodog.eu or Bovada.lv.
