It’s race day! This Saturday, Del Mar Racetrack in California will play host to the 2024 Pacific Classic. There’s a lot on the line for the 8 horses competing with the Pacific Classic being a G1 race with a million dollar prize pool and a ‘win and you’re in’ spot in the Breeders’ Cup Classic.
Dr. Venkman is the lone favorite after Adare Manor was scratched the day before the race due to a slight injury. Losing the morning line favorite definitely opens up the race to more contenders.

I think the four horses with 8-1 and shorter odds are legitimate contenders to win the Pacific Classic with morning line favorite, Adare Manor, scratched from the race. This should be an exciting race with several contenders with the ability to get the win.
My Pick
I’m taking Dr. Venkman at odds of 5-2. He’s the clear favorite after Adare Manor scratched. This horse is coming off a win at the San Diego Handicap at Del Mar where he ran a very fast pace, and he’s proven to be the fastest horse in this field. As long as he has a solid day I think Dr. Venkman will win this evening.
