One of the best matchups in week 7 of the NFL season is the Sunday Night Football game between the Atlanta Falcons and New England Patriots, which is a rematch of last year’s Super Bowl. The game will be played at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Massachusetts, and it is scheduled to begin at 8:30 PM. ET.

Atlanta Falcons Analysis…

The Falcons are still upset about their loss to the Patriots earlier this year because they had the game in hand before allowing Tom Brady and the Patriots to come from behind and win the game.
Even though some of the players say they have moved past it, they would love to come into Gillette and get some payback against the Patriots.

However, Atlanta hasn’t been very consistent this season, with big wins against teams like the Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions, to inexplicable losses to the Buffalo Bills and Miami Dolphins.

The Falcons offense also hasn’t been as high scoring as they were last season, and are averaging 24.2 points per game, which is 12th in the league.

Defensively, Atlanta is holding opponents to 21.8 points per game, which is 15th in the league, and head coach Dan Quinn believes there is still plenty of room for improvement.

The Falcons, who have lost their last two games cannot afford to drop another one to the Patriots if they don’t want to fall too far behind the Carolina Panthers and New Orleans Saints in the NFC South.

New England Patriots Analysis…

Like the Falcons, the Patriots haven’t looked as good as they did last season. Even though they’ve won four of their last five games, the Patriots have been shaky this season, especially on defense. The team needed some help from the referees last week to defeat the New York Jets, who have surprisingly been competitive in their last four games.

Offensively, the Patriots are still one of the best in the league, and average 28.7 points per game, which is 5th this year.

Despite their ability to put up a lot of points, the Patriots offense has been relying heavily on Tom Brady due to the fact that they have been unable to move the ball on the ground. However, if they can’t get a consistent running game going, it will be difficult for them to make it back to the Super Bowl this season because teams will continue sending their defenders after Brady like the Jets did on Sunday.

Final word…

The Falcons have lost to two AFC East teams in the past two weeks and I think the Patriots will make it three because they still haven’t figured out how to hold on to a lead late in the game. Take the Pats -3.5. Also take the over on this one.

Plays: Patriots -3.5 and Over 55
