Oakland Raiders Analysis…

The Raiders came into the season as one of the favorites to win the Super Bowl, and looked every bit the part in their first two games of the season before being brought to earth by the Washington Redskins last week.

After being dominated by the Redskins, the Raiders have to get back on track with a road win against one of the biggest rivals.

Offensively, the Raiders have picked up where they left off last season, with Derek Carr leading the way. However, new acquisition Marshawn Lynch hasn’t provided the type of play they were expecting from the former All-Pro running back.

After three games, Lynch has 139 yards and 1 touchdown. Last week, the team had to abandon the run early as they fell into a quick hole. This week, they will likely try to emphasize running the ball so they have a more balanced offense.

Defensively, the Raiders looked bad against the Redskins, giving up 27 points. They will need to do a better job against the Broncos, who are tough to defeat at home.

Denver Broncos Analysis…

Like the Raiders, the Broncos came into the season with high expectations, but they also laid an egg last week when they visited the Buffalo Bills.

Denver’s defense committed a few stupid penalties that kept the Bills in the game and eventually helped them get the win. After the game, Von Miller took responsibility for the loss and told reporters he will play better going forward, so expect to see him chase Carr around every time he drops back to pass this week.

For the season, the Broncos defense is allowing 21.3 points per game, which is 17th in the league. Their offense, which was their weakness heading into the season, has turned into a strength as they have one of the most balanced attacks in the league.

Trevor Siemian has 709 yards and 6 touchdowns so far, but he needs to do a better job protecting the ball after throwing four interceptions in the first three games.

C.J. Anderson has also been great, rushing for 235 yards and 1 touchdown on 53 carries.

Last word…

This is a really tough game to call, but I think the Raiders have better depth, which will work to their advantage. Take the Raiders +3.
