Bet On Super Bowl 53 Props – Fun Novelty Prop Bets With Picks

The most fun you can have betting on the Super Bowl is getting action on some of the wild and wacky prop bets that online sportsbooks offer for the big game.  You can find props for anything from the length of the national anthem, to the color of the winning teams gatorade shower and everything in between.  These types of prop bets really add to the excitement of the Super Bowl and make for some very interesting viewing.

In this article I will outline a few examples of the common prop bets you can place on the game and then also get into the fun, wacky, novelty props on offer at the end.  I will also provide you with a very basic 3 step guide to getting your bets in on these props online in time for Super Bowl 53.

All of the props I’m looking at below are taken from BetOnline.ag.

Super Bowl Prop Bets – Game Focused

Super Bowl 53 MVP

It’s basically a toss up between Tom Brady and everyone else according to these Super Bowl 53 MVP odds.  If the Pats get the win you can be sure everyone is going to be trying to give the MVP to Brady even if he just has an above average game.  On the flip side though, if the Rams win there are a few more options. Goff is still the most likely, but if Todd Gurley or C.J. Anderson go off for a big game on the ground, or Aaron Donald makes some big stops, they could be good value plays.

Highest QB Rating

  • Tom Brady -160
  • Jared Goff +140

The oddsmakers expect Brady to have the better QBR in this game. Brady has had QB ratings of 89.3 (vs Chargers) and 82.7 (vs Chiefs) in these playoffs. Goff has had far worse QBR’s of 54.2 (vs Dallas) and 68.3 (vs Saints). That said, most would argue that Goff has played against the better defenses.

I still like Brady here. I don’t see him making many mistakes in this game, and with the Rams looking to the run game for a lot of their offense, I expect Brady to finish with more TD’s, which should be enough to finish with a higher QBR than Goff.

Goff has only finished a game with a higher than 80 QBR once in his last 14 games, so I think this is a very solid bet on Brady.

Player To Score First Touchdown

  • Todd Gurley (LAR) +550
  • Sony Michel (NE) +600
  • C.J. Anderson (LAR) +1000
  • Julian Edelman (NE) +1000
  • Rob Gronkowski (NE) +1000
  • Brandin Cooks (LAR) +1200
  • James White (NE) +1200
  • Robert Woods (LAR) +1200
  • Josh Reynolds (LAR) +1600
  • Rex Burkhead (NE) +1600
  • Chris Hogan (NE) +1600

Those are the 11 players with 16/1 or better odds of scoring the first touchdown. You can see the full odds under the ‘Game Props’ and ‘Super Bowl Player Futures’ drop down menus at BetOnline.

I like Edelman +1000 here. I expect a big game from Edelman, and although he often does a lot of damage in the second half, I could see Brady going to him right out of the gate.

Super Bowl Prop Bets – Fun Novelty Props

Ok, that’s enough of the normal football related prop bets.  To see a full list head over to BetOnline.ag.  There is an absolutely monster selection of Super Bowl prop bets where you can basically bet on any statistic from the game.

Here are some of my favorite novelty props for the game:

Time To Sing National Anthem

  • Over 1 minute 50 seconds -120
  • Under 1 minute 50 seconds -120

Gladys Knight is singing the anthem this year. This is a fairly low total compared to some of the recent anthem lengths, but Knight is 74 years old and doesn’t hold notes particularly long, so I’m going with the under here.

What color will Adam Levine’s shoes be during the Halftime show.

  • White +120
  • Black +300
  • Brown +700
  • Blue +1000
  • Red +1000
  • Yellow +1200
  • Orange +1200
  • Green +2000
  • Purple +2000
  • Pink +2500

This shows just how crazy some of these props can get. I have no clue what color shoes the Maroon 5 front man will be wearing.

How many times will Donald Trump tweet on February 3rd?

  • Over 5 -110
  • Under 5 -130

The Donald Trump twitter account is always a hot topic and a great prop betting opportunity.

Will Goff or Brady throw for 400 or more yards in the game?

  • Yes +250
  • No -400

I’m expecting this game to be a shootout, but I’m still going with the under. Brady only threw for 348 yards against the Chiefs, and hasn’t thrown for over 400 yards all year long. Goff has thrown for over 400 yards twice this year, but he’s been more around the 200 yard mark in the last several weeks.

What color will the liquid be that is poured on the winning coach?

  • Clear/Water +250
  • Yellow +300
  • Blue +400
  • Orange +400
  • Red +600
  • Green/Lime +700
  • Purple +900
  • Orange +300
  • Red +400
  • Clear/Water +400
  • Blue +400
  • Purple +1000

This is a very popular Super Bowl prop.  I always go with water on this prop because if the players have any decency they won’t get their coach all sticky for the trophy ceremony. Last year the liquid was green when the Eagles won, so at +700 perhaps that’s a decent bet as well.

As you can see the prop bets can get pretty outrageous.  There are several other Gladys Knight, Maroon 5, and other celebrity props you can bet on as well.  Check out BetOnline.ag for the full list.
