This Saturday, Oaklawn Park Race Track in Hot Springs, Arkansas will get the horse racing season back on track with 22 horses competing in this years Arkansas Derby. The horses have been split into two fields of 11, with both divisions carrying full Kentucky Derby points.
Charlatan, who has won his two career races, is a big favorite in the first field, while Nadal, who has won his 3 career races, is the favorite in the second. These races are massive for these horses considering the opportunities to earn Kentucky Derby points are few and far between this season.
In this article I will outline the morning line odds for the 2020 Arkansas Derby races, give my pick for the winner of each race and also provide a 3 step guide to betting on the Arkansas Derby online at BetOnline.ag.
2020 Arkansas Derby Odds
Here are the morning line odds for this years Arkansas Derby races. The odds will change as the race approaches depending on the amount of money wagered on each horse.
As I mentioned above due to the circumstances there are two full fields for this years Arkansas Derby:
Field #1: Race 11 – Post Time 5:29 PM
- Charlatan 1/1
- My Friends Beer 20/1
- Mo Mosa 30/1
- Gouverneur Morris 9/2
- Jungle Runner 30/1
- Shooters Shoot 8/1
- Wrecking Crew 20/1
- Anneau d’Or 6/1
- Winning Impression 15/1
- Crypto Cash 20/1
- Basin 8/1
Charlatan is the horse to beat in field #1. He has a tough post position and he’s only run in 2 races in his career (both wins), but he looks like the real deal.
Field #2: Race 13 – Post Time 6:43 PM
- Finnick the Fierce 15/1
- Saratogian 50/1
- Storm the Court 6/1
- King Guillermo 3/1
- Nadal 5/2
- Code Runner 50/1
- Silver Prospector 10/1
- Fast Enough 12/1
- Taishan 15/1
- Farmington Road 12/1
- Wells Bayou 7/2
I like Charlatan at 1/1 in the first race. This is a horse that looks like he knows how to win. This is a big test against a stronger field and a longer distance than he’s run to this point, but I think he takes this opportunity and becomes a horse to watch heading into the Kentucky Derby late in the year.
In the second race I like King Guillermo at 3/1. He’s coming off a nice win in the Tampa Bay Derby and I think he will be more ready for this 1 1/8 mile distance than some of the other favorites in this race.
