Bet On The 2021 Pegasus World Cup – Odds and Picks

The Pegasus World Cup is set to run its fifth annual race this Saturday January 23rd at Gulfstream Park in Florida, and it’s once again bringing out the best horses in the world.  The Pegasus World Cup is staying firm this year with a $3 million prize pool and no entry fee. The race no longer has the title of “richest horse race in the world”, but the prize pool is plenty big enough to attract some of the top horses in the world. This years field will include Knicks Go who won the Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile in November. He will enter the race as the favorite.

Mucho Gusto the defending champ, will unfortunately not be in the field, after retiring from racing just a few weeks ago.  That said, it’s time for a new horse to really grab the imaginations of the horse racing world and a dominant performance from Knicks Go at this massive event would do just that.

In this article I’ll take a look at the Pegasus World Cup betting odds and also provide you with a step by step guide to placing your Pegasus World Cup bets online leading up to the race.

2021 Pegasus World Cup Odds

Here are the current odds and post positions for the race from Bovada.lv (odds taken on January 20th).

These are futures odds and will remain fixed when you place your bet before the 23rd.  If you place your wager on race day in the Bovada Racebook then the odds will use the pari-mutuel betting format, which means the odds can move depending on the amount of money coming in on each horse.

As you can see Knicks Go is the favorite, while Code of Honor and Tax are the other two top contenders.

My Pick

I like Jesus’ Team at 10-1 to win the race. Jesus’ Team finished second to Knicks Go at the Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile. That was Jesus’ Team’s 6th race and he still had not earned his maiden victory. That changed in December when Jesus’ Team won the Claiming Crown Jewel at Gulfstream Park and that taste of victory could be what the horse needed to get over the hump and start winning more races.

Jesus’ Team had been racing in very high profile races such as the Haskell Stakes, Pegasus Stakes, Jim Dandy, Preakness Stakes and Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile. He was holding his own in those races with two second place finishes and two third place finishes. He’s obviously a fast horse who his trainers believe in or they wouldn’t have thrown him to the wolves right out of the gate. That said, I do think that getting a first win can help the confidence of a horse and coming off a win we may see the best version of Jesus’ Team on Saturday.

Play: Jesus’ Team +1000

Here’s a look at this past years Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile where you can see Knicks Go win and Jesus’ Team finish second.
