The UEFA European Football Championship is underway in Germany. The Group Stage and round of 16 are over and 8 teams remain entering the quarterfinals of the tournament, which take place this Friday and Saturday. The single-elimination portion of the tournament will run until the finals takes place at Olympiastadion in Berlin on July 14th.
The 8 remaining European nations will compete to be crowned European Champion. The Euros are typically the second most watched soccer tournament worldwide, next to only the World Cup. Copa America will be taking place at the same time this year, so California residents will have top quality international soccer to watch and bet on for the throughout the tournaments.
On this page I will touch on sports betting regulation in the state, outline the popular bets you can make on Euro 2024 and explain where you can bet.
Where To Bet
Sports betting is not legal in California. Ballot measures to legalize it failed in 2022, and it is not on the 2026 ballot. Licensed sportsbooks in neighboring states are an option if you travel there, since you must be physically located in a legal state to place a bet.

Sports Betting Regulation in California
It is not currently legal to operate a sportsbook within the state of California. There were two ballot measures related to sports betting voted on during the November 2022 midterm elections, and both measures failed by significant margins. This means that there is still significant work to be done to bring regulated sports betting to California.
California residents can still place bets through offshore betting sites that are licensed and regulated outside of the United States, while still accepting California residents.
Euro 2024 Betting Options
Match Betting

In this example Spain is very slightly favored to win the game in regulation. You would have to risk $100 to win $165 betting on Spain to win the match in regulation. Germany is a slight underdog with odds of +185 to win the game, which means a $100 wager would win $185. A $100 bet on a Draw would win $215.
Sportsbooks also offer a much longer list of betting markets for each match.
In the knockout stage you may prefer to bet on which team will advance to the next round rather than the 1×2 odds shown above. Futures Betting

As you can see England, France, Germany, Spain, Netherlands, and Portugal are the six favorites entering the quarterfinals stage, while Switzerland and Turkey are outside contenders of the remaining nations.
