That said, Swiatek only won 1 of the 3 clay court tournaments she played leading into Roland Garros (losing to Sabalenka in the finals in Madrid, and retiring vs Rybakina in the quarterfinals in Rome), so she is beatable on clay. The 3-set matches in the women’s Grand Slams lend themselves to upsets much more than the 5-set matches in the men’s tournament.
