It’s race day! The 2026 Belmont Stakes will take place this evening (Saturday, June 6th) at Saratoga Racecourse in Saratoga Springs, New York. Belmont Park is currently undergoing renovations, which is why the Belmont Stakes will be run at Saratoga for the third consecutive year. This is the third and final year the race will be held at Saratoga, with Belmont Park scheduled to reopen in the fall of 2026 and the Belmont Stakes returning to its traditional home in 2027. This change of venue will once again result in the race being run at a distance of 1 1/4 miles instead of the traditional 1 1/2 miles.
There will be no Triple Crown winner this year. Golden Tempo won the Kentucky Derby, but did not run in the Preakness, which was won by Napoleon Solo. Golden Tempo returns to action this week at the Belmont Stakes, where he’ll line up against Kentucky Derby runner-up Renegade, the morning line favorite for the race.
With no Triple Crown possibility the Belmont Stakes won’t receive quite as much media hype and betting action as it would have had a Triple Crown been on the line. That said, the race still has a quality field and will be broadcast nationally on FOX (post time 7:04pm ET).
