How To Bet On The 2026 FIFA World Cup From Alabama or Georgia

The 2026 FIFA World Cup tournament will take place from June 11th to July 19th, 2026 with the US, Canada, and Mexico sharing the hosting duties. The 2026 World Cup will feature 48 nations for the first time (recent world Cups had 32 teams), which means there will be 12 groups of 4 teams, with the top 2 finishers in each group, and the top 8 third place finishers advancing to the knockout stage, which will begin with 32 teams.

Team USA received an automatic entry into the 2026 World Cup as hosts of the tournament. Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia will be one of the venues with 5 group stage games and 3 knockout stage games (including a semi-final) being played at the Atlanta stadium.

On this page I will recommend our top rated betting site for Alabama and Georgia residents, touch on the regulated betting climate in both states, look at the various World Cup bets you can make, and finish with a simple 3 step guide you can follow to place your World Cup bets online within minutes.

World Cup Betting in Alabama and Georgia

It is not currently legal to operate a sportsbook in either Alabama or Georgia. There was a brief push to legalize sports betting in Georgia in 2025, but the bills did not progress and the chance of legal sports betting in the near future ended when Georgia Legislature ended their session in April. There have also been efforts to legalize sports betting in Alabama in the past, so it’s likely a matter of time before regulated sports betting comes to both states.

Even though it’s not legal to operate a sportsbook in either state, residents of both Alabama and Georgia can still join and place bets through offshore betting sites that are licensed and regulated outside of the United States. Bovada.lv falls into this category and accepts players from across the United States.

World Cup Betting Options

Let’s look at some of the betting options available for individual matches at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. We will use the odds for the USA’s opening match vs Paraguay as an example (odds from June 11th – the start of the tournament):

The three prominent betting lines available for each match are the spread, win and total. You can also select the team names or the ‘+127 Bets’ link to see the full list of betting lines available at Bovada.

Spread

In this example USA are -0.5 goal favorites in the match. Spread bets on the USA would win if the United States win the game outright. Spread bets on Paraguay would win if the game ends in a draw or Paraguay wins outright.

To Win

Also known as 1×2 or match betting, this is simply a wager on the outcome of the match. There are three possible outcomes: USA, Draw or Paraguay. The odds associated with each outcome determine your risk vs potential winnings. For example you would have to bet $109 to win $100 betting on USA to win, while a $100 bet on Paraguay would win $315 if they pulled off the upset. A $100 bet on a Draw would win $245.

Total

The total for the match is set at 2.25 goals. Half of your wager would be applied to a total of 2 goals and half to a total of 2.5 goals. If 3 or more goals are scored in the match the over bets would win and if 1 or fewer goals are scored the under bets would win. If exactly 2 goals are scored then over bets would lose half of their wager, and under bets would win half of their wagers.

Futures

Bovada.lv also has a wide variety of futures betting lines available for the World Cup. Here are a few of the futures betting options available:

  • World Cup Outright Winner
  • Golden Boot Winner
  • Golden Ball Winner
  • To Reach Final
  • To Reach Semi-Final
  • Group Winner
  • To Qualify From Group
  • Finish Bottom of Group

Bovada has World Cup winner odds available leading up to the tournament. Here are the odds from the day the tournament begins (odds accurate as of June 11th, 2026):

As you can see, Spain and France are the two favorites, while England, Argentina, Brazil, and Portugal are the other top contenders.
