The 2026 FIFA World Cup is taking place from June 11th to July 19th, 2026. The United States is hosting the tournament, along with Canada and Mexico, which means the national team gains automatic entry as a host nation and will be looking to improve upon their round of 16 finish at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Team USA will begin the tournament in Group D alongside Paraguay, Australia, and Turkey.
This will be the first time the World Cup has expanded to 48 teams competing in the tournament, up from the 32 teams that featured in each of the past 7 tournaments. The expanded format means more group stage matches, a new round of 32 knockout stage, and plenty more betting opportunities than ever before.
The World Cup is the biggest sporting event in the world and, with most of the games being played on US soil, I’m expecting a huge amount of betting action over the course of the tournament.
On this page I will touch on the betting climate in Washington and Oregon, look at the popular bets you can make during the tournament and explain where you can bet.
Where To Bet
Washington only allows sports betting at tribal casinos, either in person or on a casino’s app while you are on the property. Oregon has legal online sports betting through DraftKings, which operates in partnership with the Oregon Lottery. Where it is legal, you generally must be 21 or older and physically located in the state to place a bet.

World Cup Betting From Washington and Oregon
Sports betting is legal in Washington, but only while on location at a tribal casino that offers sports betting. There are currently over 15 casinos in the state that offer in-person sports betting, with no legal statewide mobile option available.
Sports betting is also legal in Oregon, but the Oregon Lottery has a monopoly on the industry, with only one mobile app (DraftKings, which partnered with the lottery) available to Oregon residents.

FIFA World Cup Betting Options
The three most popular bets on World Cup matches include the spread, 1×2 (money line), and total. I will explain each of these betting options below using the USA vs Paraguay group stage match from the upcoming tournament (odds taken May 28th):
1×2
The 1×2 (or money line) is a bet on the result of the match after 90 minutes of regulation time. You can back either team to win, or back the draw, which is what the “x” represents.
In the above example, USA are the favorite to win the match with odds of +100. This means a $100 bet on the Americans would win $100 (payout $200) if they won the match in regulation.
Paraguay has odds of +275 to win ($100 wins $275) and a draw has odds of +273 ($100 wins $273).
Total
The total is a bet on the number of goals that will be scored in the match. The oddsmaker will set a total and you can bet on whether the number of goals scored by both teams combined will be over or under that amount.
In the above example the total is set at 2.5 goals. Over bets would win if 3 or more goals are scored, while under bets would win if 2 or fewer goals are scored.
Spread
The spread (also called the handicap) gives one team a head start in goals to even out the matchup. A favorite might be listed at -0.5 or -1.5 goals, meaning they need to win by that margin for the bet to cash, while the underdog gets the same number of goals added to their final score. Spreads are a popular way to get better value on a heavy favorite during the group stage when mismatches are common.
