The 2024 NBA Finals get underway tonight (Thursday, June 6th) (full schedule). The Boston Celtics ran through the Eastern Conference playoffs dropping just 2 games en route to the finals. This will be the Celtics second NBA Finals appearance in the last 3 years, with Boston losing in 6 games to the Golden State Warriors in 2022. Coming out of the West is the fifth seeded, Dallas Mavericks. The Mavs were slight underdogs in every series, but managed to defeat the LA Clippers in round one, the top seeded OKC Thunder in round 2, and the Minnesota Timberwolves in the Western Conference Finals.
The Boston Celtics are about 2-1 favorites heading into the finals. Jayson Tatum and Jalen Brown are playing great basketball, and this team has so much depth that they’re proving why they were significant favorites to win the title entering the playoffs.
Luka Doncic is playing amazing basketball as the Maverick’s superstar, while Kyrie Irving has really found his groove as the second option on the team. The Mavs are playing their best basketball of the season and have looked great throughout the playoffs on a more difficult path than the Celtics.
