NFL Betting in Arkansas, Mississippi and Oklahoma

Sports betting is legal in Arkansas. You can place bets in-person at one of the three casino locations in the state, or through one of the three online sportsbooks available in the state: Bet Saracen, Betly, and Oaklawn Sports.

Mississippi also has legal sports betting, but you are only allowed to place bets while on-location at a licensed casino in the state.

Oklahoma does not yet have legalized sports betting. There was an attempt in 2023 that made it through the House, but failed at the Senate. Oklahoma lawmakers will likely attempt to legalize sports betting again in 2024.

Arkansas, Mississippi and Oklahoma residents all have the option to bet on sports through offshore betting sites that are licensed and regulated outside of the USA. falls into this category and has served the US betting market for the past ten years. is a great option for Mississippi and Oklahoma residents who do not have access to state-regulated online sports betting from the comfort of their own homes, and for Arkansas residents to compare odds with the three online sportsbooks available in the state.

Popular NFL Bets has a wide selection of NFL bets available for both individual games and season long futures/props.

Below I will look at the odds from the season opening game between the Detroit Lions and Kansas City Chiefs, and explain the three most popular NFL individual game bets: spread, money line and total.

The spread odds are shown in the first column of the screenshot above. In this example the Kansas City Chiefs are -6.5 point favorites at home.

  • Chiefs spread bets win if the Chiefs win by 7 or more points.
  • Lions spread bets win if the Lions win the game outright or the Chiefs win by 6 or fewer points.

Money Line

The second column shows the money line odds. This is simply a bet on which team will win the game. The odds indicate the risk vs reward amounts for a bet on that outcome.

  • Bet $280 on the Chiefs to win $100 (payout of $380).
  • Bet $100 on the Lions to win $230 (payout of $330).

The total is a bet on the number of points scored in the game by both teams. The oddsmaker will set a total and you can bet on whether the number of points scored will be over or under this amount.

  • If 55 or more points are scored by both teams then Over bets win.
  • If 53 or fewer points are scored by both teams then Under bets win.
  • If exactly 54 points are scored by both teams then the total bets would push (be returned).
