How To Bet On The 2023 Super Bowl From California

It’s Super Bowl Sunday! California will not have a team in the big game this year after the San Francisco 49ers fell to the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Championship game. The LA Rams brought the Super Bowl to the Golden State for the first time since 1995 with their win over the Bengals last year in Super Bowl LVI.

Super Bowl LVII will feature the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs, with the game being held at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona today (Sunday, February 12th).

The Super Bowl is consistently the most bet on single day sporting event in the United States each year. This year, with sport betting becoming more main stream, and having two exciting teams with several star players, I’m expecting above average betting on the Super Bowl.

On this page I will recommend two top rated betting sites for California residents, touch on the legality of betting within the state, look at the odds for the most popular Super Bowl bets, and finish up with a simple 3 step guide to help California residents get Super Bowl bets placed online in minutes.

Super Bowl Betting in California

At this time, it’s not legal to operate a sportsbook inside the state of California.

That said, it’s not illegal for California residents to sign up and place bets at an offshore betting site that is licensed and regulated outside of the United States. Bovada fits into this category by being licensed and regulated in Panama. This allows Bovada to accept players from the majority of US States, including California.

2023 Super Bowl Odds

Let’s take a look at the odds for a few of the popular bets you can make on Super Bowl 57 (odds taken the morning of Super Bowl Sunday – February 12th).

Point Spread

The point spread is the most popular NFL bet during the regular season, and I’m expecting this to also be the case for the Super Bowl this year.

The Eagles are 1 point favorites at Bovada, which means they must win by 2 or more to cover the spread. If the Chiefs win the game outright then a spread bet on the Chiefs would win. If the Eagles win by exactly 1 point then the spread bets would push and be refunded.

To Win

The money line odds have the Eagles as -120 favorites, which means a $120 bet on Philadelphia to win the game would win $100 (pays $220).

The Chiefs odds to win the game are +100, so a $100 bet on the Chiefs wins $100 (pays $200).

The total is set at 51 for the Super Bowl. If you think 52 or more points will be scored by both teams (combined) you should bet the over, and if you think 50 or fewer points will be scored you should bet the under.

All of the above odds could change slightly as we approach Super Bowl Sunday. To see the up to date odds head over to and select ‘Super Bowl’ from the Trending Competitions section to see these odds and many more.

There are also a ton of prop bets you can find on the Super Bowl at Bovada.
