New England Patriots 2017 Futures Betting Lines and Picks

Last season, the New England Patriots won the Super Bowl after mounting the greatest comeback in Super Bowl history against the Atlanta Falcons. The team had to overcome the four game suspension of quarterback Tom Brady at the start of the season, and a season ending injury to Rob Gronkowski, who missed the team’s entire playoff run.

Now that the 2017 season is almost here, oddsmakers have the Patriots as the favorites to win the Super Bowl again.  In fact, New England is the overwhelming favorite to come out of the AFC at +375, while the Oakland Raiders, who have the second best odds in the AFC, are at +1200.

Despite New England being favored to win the AFC, they will face some competition from the Miami Dolphins, who made a lot of moves to improve their team in the offseason, including the addition of tight end Julius Thomas, who will give quarterback Ryan Tannehill a big target to throw to in the end zone.

There are plenty of opportunities for futures bets on the Pats this season.  In this article I’ll look at their odds for the Super Bowl, AFC East Title, their over/under on total wins for the season and also take a peek at their week 1 odds against the Chiefs.  All the odds I’m using in the article are from Bovada.lv.

AFC East Winner Odds

Here’s a look at the odds to win the AFC East from Bovada.lv:

  • Buffalo Bills +700
  • Miami Dolphins +500
  • New England Patriots -500
  • New York Jets +3300

Since Bill Belichick took over as head coach of the Patriots, the team has dominated the AFC East, winning 14 of the last 16 division titles. The Patriots have also won eight consecutive AFC East titles, and will likely make it nine in a row after this season.

New England Patriots Total Wins 2017

Even though Tom Brady missed the first four games of the season, the Patriots still won 14 games last year. With Brady expected to play all 16 games, the Patriots are once again favored to win the most games.

Over/Under on Total Wins For Patriots

  • Over 12.5 -130
  • Under 12.5 +100

Winning 13 of 16 games is a ridiculous feat in the NFL, and even though the Pats won 14 games last year, while not having Brady for four games, I still think the smart money has to be on the under here.

Patriots Super Bowl Odds

Here are the Super Bowl Odds from Bovada.lv.  I’ve included all of the teams with 16/1 shot or better at winning the Super Bowl.

  • New England Patriots +375
  • Green Bay Packers +750
  • Dallas Cowboys +1200
  • Seattle Seahawks +1200
  • Oakland Raiders +1200
  • Pittsburgh Steelers +1200
  • Atlanta Falcons +1600

Despite their AFC East dominance, there are no guarantees New England will return to the Super Bowl this year with teams like the Oakland Raiders and Pittsburgh Steelers waiting in the wings. Last season, the Raiders were expected to give the Patriots a run for their money, but a season ending injury to quarterback Derek Carr killed Oakland’s chances. Without Carr, the Raiders ended up losing to the Houston Texans in the playoffs.

The Steelers have always been contenders as long as Ben Roethlisberger is healthy, and they made it to the AFC Championship game last year, where they lost to the Patriots. However, the Steelers were without the services of their top rusher LeVeon Bell, who was injured in the first quarter of the game.

With a healthy Bell and suspended receiver Martavis Bryant back in the lineup, the Steelers will be a force to reckon with.

The AFC isn’t the only conference with teams the Patriots have to worry about, they also have to contend with NFC teams like the Dallas Cowboys, Atlanta Falcons, and the Green Bay Packers.

Even though the Patriots look like the best team on paper, there are other teams in either conference that can beat them. So what do you think? Can the Patriots become the first team to win the Super Bowl in consecutive years since they pulled off the feat in 2004 and 2005?

Patriots Week 1 Spread

The Patriots kick off the regular season against the Kansas City Chiefs, and as expected, they are favored to win the game:

  • Kansas City Chiefs +7.5
  • New England Patriots -7.5

If you think the Patriots can go all the way again, you can place a bet on them to win the Super Bowl at Bovada.lv.
