The 2022 Preakness Stakes will take place this Saturday, May 21st at Pimlico Race Course.
Epicenter will enter the Preakness Stakes as the favorite after finishing second in the Kentucky Derby. Rich Strike, the Derby winner, will not participate in the Preakness, forgoing his shot at a Triple Crown in order to focus on the Belmont Stakes in June.
First, let’s take a look at Rich Strike’s Kentucky Derby winning performance and then we will get into my Preakness picks.
In this article, I’ll look at the morning line odds for the Preakness Stakes and also give you a step by step guide to betting on the Preakness Stakes this year.
Where To Bet On Preakness Stakes
2022 Preakness Stakes Odds
Here are the morning line odds and post positions for the Preakness Stakes. These odds will change throughout race day depending on the amount of money wagered on each horse.
- Simplification 6-1
- Creative Minister 10-1
- Fenwick 50-1
- Secret Oath 9-2
- Early Voting 7-2
- Happy Jack 30-1
- Armagnac 12-1
- Epicenter 6-5
- Skippylongstocking 20-1
As you can see Epicenter is the significant favorite to win the race at odds of 6-5, while Early Voting (7-2) and Secret Oath (9-2) are the other two top contenders.
I like Early Voting to win the Preakness at odds of 7-2. This is a very fast horse that has won 2 of his 3 career races. He had an epic battle with Mo Donegal at the Wood Memorial in his last outing, losing by a nose to the horse that finished fifth at the Derby. That was an extremely fast race and it shows the speed that Early Voting possesses.
Having only raced once in the last three months, Early Voting should be well rested and ready to peak for the Preakness. This is compared with Epicenter, Secret Oath, and Simplification, who all either competed in the Kentucky Derby or Kentucky Oaks just two weeks ago. I think being the most well rested contender will play a factor in this race.
Play: Early Voting 7-2
