Bet On Women’s Short Track Speed Skating – Odds and Races

Olympics RingsThe short track speed skating for the ladies hasn’t really started yet, but will get underway with some medals being handed out tomorrow.  Yes, the semi-final races for the women’s relay are done, but we will have to wait quite a while before the finals and see which countries stand on the podium for that event.

I personally stayed up late to watch Charles Hamelin win the Men’s 1500 metre speed skating race and it just made me more excited for the upcoming short track events!

**If you are from the United States though you should bet at Bovada.lv.

I’ve only included the odds for athletes with 10/1 odds or better.

The 4 World Cup short track events that have taken place so far this season are likely what the oddsmakers are using to come up with their betting lines.

Ladies 500 Metre Short Track Speed Skating Odds

  • Kexin Fan 6/4
  • Seung-Hi Park 4/1
  • Suk Hee Shim 11/2
  • Arianna Fontana 6/1
  • Marianne St-Gelais 8/1

Kexin Fan has 1 gold, and 2 silvers in the four World Cup events this season.

Seung-Hi Park has 1 silver in the four events.

Wang Meng from China actually won 3 of the 4 World Cup events in the 500 metres, but an injury is preventing her from competing in Sochi.

Ladies 1000 Metre Short Track Odds

  • Shim Suk HeeSuk Hee Shim 9/10
  • Alang Kim 4/1
  • Seung-Hi Park 15/2

Shim Suk Hee has 3 golds out of the 4 World Cup events this in 2013-14.

Alang Kim has 3 silvers and 1 bronze in the 4 World Cup this year.  She may be just knocking on the door and ready for her moment.

Seung-Hi Park, the other top competitor at this distance finished with 1 silver and 1 bronze in the World Cup events this year.

Ladies 1500 Metre Odds

  • Suk Hee Shim 7/10
  • Seung-Hi Park 5/1
  • Alang Kim 5/1
  • Yang Zhou 7/1

Shim Suk Hee is a huge favourite at this distance having won 3 of the World Cups this year, while finishing second in the other.

Kim Alang is the only lady to have beat Suk Hee this year, and she also finished 2nd in one of the other World Cups.

Seung-Hi Park has only 1 silvers so it’s surprising that she is also the second favourite.

Ladies 3000m Relay Odds

  • South Korea 9/20
  • China 12/5
  • Canada 10/1
  • Italy 16/1

In the 3000 metre relay the four countries that were expected to make the finals have done so.  South Korea and China are really the two battling it out for gold, while Canada and Italy will likely be fighting for bronze.  That said anything can happen in short track speed skating.  South Korea won 3 of the World Cup events, while China won the other, with the two nations swapping second place if they didn’t win.  For third place Italy has 3 bronze medals, while Canada has only 1 so it’s somewhat surprising that Canada is a bigger favourite than the Italians.

These races are all going to be very exciting.
