Manny Pacquiao will return to the boxing ring this Saturday, August 21st in front of a full capacity crowd at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Pacquiao was expected to face Errol Spence Jr. for the WBC, IBC and The Ring welterweight titles, but Spence was injured in training less than two weeks from fight night and was forced to pull out. Yordenis Ugas, who was slated to fight in the co-main event, will step into his place and fight Manny Pacquiao in the main event.
Pacquiao is now 42 years old and is over two years removed from his last fight, when he defeated Keith Thurman be split decision in July of 2019. That said, Pacquiao has been as dangerous as ever in his recent fights and he looks great in his recent training videos. Pacquiao will be favorite in this fight with Yordenis Ugas, but it will be no means be an easy fight. Ugas is 24-6 in his career and is the current WBA (Super) welterweight title holder (a status he received earlier this year after Pacquiao was stripped of the title due to inactivity). Pacquiao vs Ugas should be a great fight with the WBA (super) welterweight belt on the line.
Pacquiao fights always bring in plenty of betting interest and even though his opponent has changed from Spence to Ugas, I still expect this fight to generate buzz.
