UFC betting has grown in popularity over the past several years. UFC is the perfect sport for betting because there are a lot of varying opinions heading into each match-up, the action is fast-paced, and it just takes a split second for a fight to finish or a comeback to occur.

Where To Bet
Oregon has legal online sports betting through DraftKings, which operates in partnership with the Oregon Lottery. Montana offers sports betting through the Montana Lottery’s Sports Bet Montana, which is only available at licensed retail locations. Where it is legal, you generally must be 21 or older and physically located in the state to place a bet.
Other options include prediction markets such as Kalshi and Polymarket, daily fantasy sports apps where they are available, and offshore sportsbooks, which accept US customers but are not licensed or regulated by any state. Our guide to sports betting in the USA breaks down every option.
Sports Betting in Oregon and Montana
Oregon and Montana both allow legal sports betting, but each runs it as a single-operator state monopoly rather than an open market.
In Oregon, online betting has been legal since 2019. The Oregon Lottery first ran its own app (Scoreboard), then handed mobile betting over to DraftKings in January 2022, and DraftKings remains the only legal online sportsbook in the state. There are a couple of catches worth knowing: you cannot bet on any college sports in Oregon, including in-state teams and college props, and retail betting is limited to a handful of tribal casinos. Bettors must be 21 or older.
Montana works in a similar way. Sports betting became legal in 2019 and launched in March 2020 through Sports Bet Montana, the Montana Lottery’s product. No national sportsbooks are allowed in, and the betting age is 18.
The upshot for both states is the same: one state-run book, a limited betting menu, and no way to shop around for a better line.
UFC Betting Options
There are a wide variety of bets you can make on a UFC fight, but betting on the fight’s winner takes the majority of the action.
Let’s take a look at the odds for the Ilia Topuria vs Justin Gaethje main event from the UFC Freedom 250 card at the White House as an example:
In this example, Ilia Topuria is a -550 favorite to win the fight. This means you would have to risk $550 to win $100 betting on Topuria. Justin Gaethje is the +400 underdog, which means a $100 bet on Gaethje would win $400 (payout of $500).
Here are some of the other bets you can make on UFC fights with quick explanations:
Method of Victory – a bet on the winner of the fight plus how they win it (decision, submission or knockout).
Round Betting – a bet on the winner plus the exact round the fight ends in (or that it goes to a decision).
Total Rounds – an over/under bet on how many rounds the fight lasts.

Here’s a quick walkthrough of getting from sign-up to your first bet.
Step 1. Decide Where To Bet
In Oregon, DraftKings is the only licensed online sportsbook, and it takes bets on UFC fights anywhere in the state. In Montana, Sports Bet Montana takes bets on UFC fights at licensed bars, taverns and other retail locations.
